Heading up our Saturday afternoon session, The Fliks!
The Fliks are a seven piece band that specialise in covering hits from 1960’s era girl groups and solo artists. The line-up of three female vocals and four piece band strike the perfect balance between authenticity and originality in their effort to capture a British Cavern era cover band. Founded in 2011 the band are well established, having performed at many venues, festivals, scooter clubs, soul and vintage gigs.
If you’re a fan of the sixties era then The Fliks won’t fail to disappoint!
Representing on the local(ish) breweries, we welcome Red Cat Brewing to this Christmas edition of the beer festival.
Red Cat Brewing is a small, independent brewery in Winchester established in the spring of 2014 by Iain McIntosh and Andy Mansell who have the singular aim of creating imaginative, stunning craft beer. The Red Cat guys strive to create the perfect pint and have a big following for their modern styled core beers; Prowler Pale (3.6 % ABV Best-selling Pale Ale), Scratch (4% ABV Golden Session Bitter), Tomcat (4.7% ABV American Pale Ale) and Mr M’s Porter (4.5% ABV Award-winning Porter), but are also known for their Untamed Range of specials which is where creativity and experimentation rules. In their own words “we don’t do boring”.
Emerging from the much loved Oakleaf Brewery which went in to administration earlier this year, Fallen Acorn Brewing Co. is a super squad formed from the existing Oakleaf Brewery Team and investors Just Develop It.
Oakleaf fans will be pleased to hear Hole Hearted and the IPA is available again alongside some new brews. Fallen Acorn is really excited to introduce a new Coffee Porter to its core range, which features a special blend of coffee made in collaboration with Gosport’s very own Solent Coffee Roasters and we can’t wait to try it!
Fallen Acorn’s Managing Director, Matt Curd says “We want to make beer that appeals to CAMRA drinkers, as well as Craft Beer drinkers, some with finings, some without, traditional styles like copper ales alongside quirky beers with insane flavours. We recognise the importance of tradition but also the demand for new and unique brewing techniques. We drink both, and we want to brew for both groups.”
We like the sound of that!
You’ll be able to try some of Fallen Acorns new and old brews at this December’s Portsmouth Beer Festival!
Heavy Industry Brewing is a project which began in 2009 with a course at Brewlab in Sunderland studying British Brewing Technology with the secret intention of getting out and then kegging the hell out of everything. Whilst there, they became enamoured with cask ale and were lucky enough to work as a general dogsbodies at the Purple Moose Brewery in Porthmadog for the summer of 2009, where they learned the ins and outs of process and running a brewery.
They began brewing on their ten barrel brew kit in the summer of 2012, and since then we have built up a solid and diverse core range of beers and won numerous awards at regional and national level. They aren’t resting on their laurels and will be bringing out more specials and investing in expanding their keg beer range in the near future.
Our latest announcement to the Saturday Evening session line up is hot off the press one of the most exciting tribute acts around, Fleetingwood Mac.
Together they have worked to bring to you a selection of Fleetwood Mac’s greatest hits, across a range of albums, going all the way back to the early days with Peter Green, showing you the roots of the band with songs such as “Oh Well” and “Black Magic Woman”, before moving on to 1975 when the sound for which they are perhaps now more widely known for appears, along with Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham.
Previewing the first up of our featured breweries for the Christmas Sessions, we have Wild Weather Ales! Their mantra is one that suggests okay is just not good enough. “Helping To Save The World From Mediocre Beer.” That’s it. That’s all. Simple.
This will be their first appearance with us at the festival and like all of our beers on the line up, we can’t wait to get stuck in to a pint or two!
We are thrilled to announce our favourite festive event the Portsmouth Beer Festival will return on the 16th & 17th December!
The Christmas Beer Festival will be brimming with festive cheer and of course, plenty of beer. There will be over 100 cask ales available to tickle your taste buds and ensure you’re pint is forever flowing with seasonal spirit. We’ll have a screen on at the beer festival this weekend so you’ll be able to catch the FA Cup final. We’re aware the game kicks off just before our Saturday evening session, but if you arrive in time for the session opening you’ll be able to catch most of the game. Whether you’re a United or Palace fan, or just a neutral, you’ll still be able to enjoy some fine beers whilst taking in the match!
